last stop was england. ah england, the first english speaking country out of the eight. have to say i loved england. my aunty and uncle live in the sweetest little village about an hours drive out of london. london was brilliant. soo much to do and so easy to travel around with the underground. we were in england for i think ten days. we stayed in london for three nights and the rest in the same village as where my aunty lives. during those days we went on day trips to brighton, bath and oxford. it was pretty special to go to oxford in particular as my grandpa went to university there and also married my grandmother there. favourite things: london in general, seeing the village my aunty lives in and eating dinner/lunch at her house (after almost two months away from home, there's nothing like a home cooked meal), meeting their beautiful dog othello (pictured above) isn't he beautiful? kind of made me miss my dog jackie even more though. the shops in regent and oxford street in london. in particular those that melbourne don't have such as: topshop, urban outfitters and my favourites: anthropologie and cath kidson. the fashion of course - sorry italy, but you got nothing on london... that's just me though. the day trips to brighton, bath and oxford. seeing wicked in london - i'm not a huge musical fan (though strangely i love glee... work that one out?) i would even see wicked a second time, i loved it that much.

next was paris, france. it was so so cold but i loved paris. unfortunately my dad was pretty sick with gastro, two days later, my sister and i followed. i don't think i've ever been that sick before. and now i can say i've thrown up on a french train... erhh yeah i'll spare you anymore details... favourite things: the pastries (though in saying that, i don't want to eat one in a very long time), the fashion, the history, the macaroons ;-) well up until the horrid gastro episode.

soo next was italy. we traveled around in a citroën jumpy, pretty interesting being on the other side of the road and having mum trying to translate constantly. some of the cities/towns we visited: rome, positano, taormina, catania, maiori, stilo, florence, venice, assisi, palermo, the cinque terre, and pompeii. favourite things: seeing all my italian relatives - some whom i'd never met before, staying in the small town: stilo, where both my nonna and nonno (grandmother and grandfather) were born in and grew up in. we would walk around the town and my great uncle salvatore (who lives in rome) and bump into people, pretty much everyone was related to us in someway. "this is your fourth cousin on nonna stella's side", "this is your nonna stella's brother's wife's sister's great grandson". makes me laugh just thinking about it haha. the pretty ceramic shops were devine, the history was pretty amazing, especially in pompeii and colosseum. the coastal towns, especially maiori and positano. learning about saint francis of assisi. the fresh food market in catania, sicily. and last but not least: the foood! pizza and pasta a plenty of course.

next stop was germany. i stayed with one of my best friends: monica, her lovely husband maik and their beautiful little bubby sophie hadassah. the trip so far had been pretty full on, so it was perfect to just relax. favourite things: hanging out with mon, maik and sophie for six whole days.

following on from other travel posts: uganda, tanzania and zanzibar. next stop was turkey... well actually we stayed in dubai for a night and had an ever so brief day there - i didn't take many photographs. but whoa what an amazing city and so clean aha. soo back to turkey. i loved turkey. after being in africa for over two weeks, it was nice to have a weather change. i only was there about four days in istanbul and then went on to germany, while the rest of my family traveled to other places such as gallipoli, ephesus and troy. favourite things: apple tea, baklava, baklava, baklava, lamb kebabs, pretty turkish fairy lights, the grand bazaar, the history, the weather, the restaurants.

that's how you say 'owls' in italian. gufi. it was quite funny, i was in a cute little store in maiori, italy, on the amalfi coast. i saw these sweet little owls in a bowl by the counter and the man said they were called 'gufi', which sounds like 'goofy' aha. i have this obsession with little owl statues and i had to get a typical tourist-y london bus. you would too? ;-) more overseas posts coming soon, we've still got turkey, germany, italy, france and england to go.

ok so after the tanzanian mainland we flew to zanzibar. zanzibar is a semi-autonomous part of tanzania (i just learnt that aha). to be completely honest though zanzibar is beautiful, it was just soo humid. just standing alone and you'd be sweating like you'd run a marathon. favourite things: the beach, spice tour and sunset boat cruise.

next stop was tanzania. favourite things: on the top of my list has to be visiting my two sponsored girls: aneth and hadija. both are ten years old and so different from each other. we visited four sponsored children, two of my own and two of my parents. and what was so brilliant was that each visit was completely different from the last. being able to take photos of so many beautiful, happy children. visiting a maasai village. the safaris. the last two photographs are of my two sponsored girls (the second last photograph is hadija and the last photograph is of aneth (far right) and her grandmother and sister: happy). i think i left a part of my heart in tanzania.

i'm home! after two months, eight countries, thirteen flights, one ferry trip, one eurostar trip, countless tube trips, three safaris, twenty-four places of accommodation, extreme heat to snow covered lands. i think the best way is to create a post for each country... the amount of photographs i took... is well... kind of ridiculous. so here we go! this is the trip in a few words and photographs. i'm in the process of uploading a tonne of photos to flickr. you can check them out here. hope you enjoy the posts and they inspire you in some small way. first stop was uganda. we left november 15th and after over 30 hours traveling time we arrived at entebbe airport. favourite things: visiting my parents sponsored child: agnes. the ugandan people including the beautiful beautiful kids. everytime i look at photos them, i can't help but smile... and yes corny is a word i would use to describe what i just wrote.

ohh dear me, it has been a while, hasn't it? hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and new years. i'm currently in london, the last country of eight. leaving in a week for home and i have to say i can't wait to get home. the last seven weeks have been pretty unreal, but 'there's no place like home'. can't wait to sleep in my own bed, see my friends and super excited to see my dog, jack. aand it's summer in melbourne, think i've had enough of wearing coats, tights, gloves etc for now. don't get me wrong, i love winter clothes, just will be nice to get some vitamin d. hope you're all well xx
